The early 20th century was a time when the island of Fuerteventura was still an isolated place, and not the vacation destination that it now is.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During his days in Fuerteventura, the writer ended up falling in love with the island, and started different works about it; including material on the local Majorero dialect. De Unamuno later returned to his post as a professor at Salamanca University when the Republicans came to power in the early 1930s. Free admission.
