The peninsula is entirely in the municipality of P\u00e1jara. Within the peninsula is Fuerteventura&#8217;s tallest mountain, Pico de Jand\u00eda or Pico de la Zarza, that rises to an elevation of 807 meters. Jand\u00eda has gotten some notoriety in recent times, when a German engineer Gustav Winter leased it from the Franco regime in the late 1930s, declared it an off-limited military zone, and built a shadowy villa on the premises.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aside from that, travelers can venture to nearby Morro Jable beach (one of the better beaches on the island), and visit the local town of the same name. The town has the feel of a local Spanish town &#8212; with restaurants and cafes catering to Canarian locals rather than international tastes.
